New Mexico Rising!

They might be one of our newer teams, but there is a TON of great stuff going on in New Mexico lately!Firstly, there is a fantastic article about the Flea Market Story Garden that appeared on page 1 of the Gallup Independent Newspaper!  The full story isn't online unfortunately, but our favorite bit? The words of our National Director, Karen Stornelli: "We want to make it as easy as possible for parents and grandparents to have family time," Stornelli said. "We try to strengthen and re-enforce the opportunities parents are trying to give their children."Nice work, guys!And then in a second bit of news - our New Mexico team just launched a new mosaic project at the UNM-North campus!Vladi Pino, who has been running art projects in collaboration with UNM for more than a year now, has planned this project for months with the students and their instructors as a way to beautify their building, give them a sense of pride and belonging, and a venue to express their identity in complement to the math and English classes they take.The plan is to incorporate a variety of materials including broken glass and other debris from the alley and the neighborhood around our campus so the students can reflect on the possibilities of transforming what is broken and ugly into something unified and beautiful which becomes a powerful metaphor.If you'd like to learn more about what the New Mexico team is up to - check out their brand new Facebook page too!
