Digital Story Telling
Digital Storytelling is a participatory methodology that gives marginalized people a voice and a platform to share their experiences in the form of a personal story. These stories can resonate with others who have had similar experiences and serve as powerful tools for advocacy. The process allows individuals to take ownership of experiences that may have involved struggle, exclusion, or oppression.
The ATD Fourth World New Mexico team has been using Digital Storytelling with a group of Activists to explore the topic of education and learning. This project has been ongoing since mid-2024 and began with a series of interviews. Participants then created collages reflecting what they carry in their hearts and minds about education and learning. These collages became the foundation for writing their stories.
Once the stories were written and finalized, participants selected personal images and photos that connected emotionally to their narratives. They then recorded their voices as narration and chose music to accompany their videos—bringing their stories to life in a deeply personal and creative way.
