Celebrating our diversity
My name is Christian Josz and I have had the privilege to have been elected as Chair of the Board of ATD Fourth World Movement in the United States this year. Our Board is made up of ATD Fourth World members from all around the United States and meets monthly by Zoom. Deirdre Mauss serves with me as Vice-Chair and Julia Sick as Secretary.
I am 59 and Belgian. My wife Jossine and I are the proud parents of our three boys Cédric, Jérôme and Tanguy and the proud grandparents of our granddaughter Clara. I currently live and work in Barbados in the Caribbean for an international financial organization.
I have been a supporter of ATD Fourth World Movement over the last 36 years, first in my home country Belgium, then in France, and for 21 years in Washington, DC, where I Iived until I moved to Barbados in August 2020. I have been on the Board of the Movement in the USA since 2011. My main activity as a supporter has been to try opening doors for ATD Fourth World in my work environment where I have been in touch with government representatives and international civil servants from all over the world.
This year the Board will focus its energy on doing what we can to help teams carry out ATD Fourth World’s activities in the USA. Our main priority will be to prepare a modernization of ATD Fourth World USA’s by-laws and to present them for approval to the membership. Assuring that the bylaws and daily activities of ATD Fourth World in the United States are meaningful toward our goals and are relevant to the current realities of poverty in the country is a role of the Board we are able to carry because of the diversity of experiences and involvements of our board members.
We welcome your suggestions on what role you would like the Board of ATD Fourth World in the USA to play and interactions you would like to have with us. You can contact us at the following email address: board@4thworldmovement.org.
